1. If I change the status of the ERA to ‘Processed’, why does it not process the ERA?

The mentioned process only changes the ERA status and does not actually process it. To process the ERA, we are required to use the Process button, whereby a payment entry is created, and use ‘Proceed to Post’ to apply the payment.

2. If I have an ERA that I already manually posted, what should I do to the ERA?

Go to ERA Listing Page, identify the ERA from the list and click on the Status drop-down to change the status from PENDING to PROCESSED. The ERA will be moved from the PENDING list to PROCESSED list. Provide status search filter as PROCESSED and click on Search in the ERA Listing page to view the moved ERA.

3. Why aren’t all claims in the ERA showing on the Posting screen?

Claims may not appear on the posting screen due to a mismatch in the claim information.

4. Where can I see the denials in the ERA?

For denied claims, the Claim Status Code will be 4; the details of the denial can be found by hovering the mouse over the Adj Amt. or Remark Code.

5. Even after Processing the ERAs why do they remain pending?

The ERA remains in pending status when there is an unapplied amount in the ERA; The user might have partially applied the ERA, leaving some amount unposted.

6. Why do we have unmatched claims in the ERA?

We have unmatched claims whenever the ERA includes claims that were submitted from a different software or in scenarios where there is a claim mismatch.

7. What do you do when you have unmatched claims in the ERA?

If we get unmatched claims, the system will not allow us to post the payment through the ERA posting screen. However, we can create charges from Enter Charges and generate the claim. Thereafter, they can be processed on the ERA screen.

8. How do I list ERAs that are already processed?

In the ERA Listing page, select the option ‘PROCESSED’ from the Status search filter and click on Search. All processed ERAs will be displayed.

9. What is “Exclude Prior PR. Payments and Adjustments” checkbox for?

This is to be used in scenarios where the primary has already made the payment and when the secondary payment includes the primary adjudicated amount.

10. How can I see a report of payments posted from ERAs?

Go to Report Central and choose ‘I4. Payment Deposit Report’ under the Charges and Payments section. Enter the required search parameters, and select the Source as ERA. Click on Search.

11. How can I find out which claims did not post from the ERA?

Go to Report Central and run the ‘J25 ERA Detail Report’. Enter the Check# or Payment# with ERA from and to Creation Dates. Check the box labeled ‘Show Unposted Items’ Only. Click on Search.
