Insurance Discovery Program

PracticeSuite has enhanced its revenue cycle management (RCM) capabilities by launching an insurance coverage discovery feature in partnership with Experian Health (Wave). This automated tool retrieves patients’ insurance information—such as billable Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial plans—from Experian. It helps identify coverage that may have been previously unknown, forgotten, or not disclosed by patients, enabling more accounts to be billed and reducing the risk of missed reimbursement due to unreported coverage.

How to Access the Discovery Program

A new icon on the XSuperbill screen, next to the patient’s name, provides access to the insurance discovery interface.

The Discovery Interface

The screen presents request details on the left and Experian responses on the right. When additional insurance details are located in Experian’s records, users can review and selectively import this information into PracticeSuite. For any discrepancies, users can choose to accept the Experian data by selecting checkboxes next to each field.

The program also retrieves demographic data, which users may accept or reject in the event of discrepancies.

Status Codes for Discovery Responses

  • Insurance data: Complete, Incomplete, Error
  • Demographic data: Success, Unable to Find Patient, Timeout, Error, Invalid/Incomplete Address

For discovery results with errors, XSuperbill assigns these to a dedicated HOLD_DISCO_ERROR bucket for quick access. Low-confidence items are grouped in the HOLD_DISCO_LOWCONF bucket and high-confidence ones in HOLD_DISCO_HIGHCONF bucket.

*HOLD_DISCO_ERROR, HOLD_DISCO_HIGHCONF and HOLD_DISCO_LOWCONF buckets will be available in the Work Queue for worklist creation and task allocation for the Discovery program.

Confidence Levels

  • Insurance data: High, Low, Mixed
  • Demographic data: High, Low
